Take cover
Pick what you are exposed to. The price is worked out against the pool's own book, so the same risk costs differently depending on what the pool already carries.
What are you covering
Every cover here settles on a measured index, never on an assessment of your loss.
The pool
Capital that stands behind every live policy, and the rules that stop it writing more than it can pay.
What pays together
Exposure grouped by the event that would settle it. One earthquake pays every policy in its circle at once, so this is the number that matters, not the total limit written.
Loss exceedance
How bad a year gets, and how often. Read across: a loss of this size or worse arrives about once every so many years.

Turned away
Cover the pool refused to write. A protocol that only shows what it sold is hiding the half of underwriting that keeps it solvent.
Ledger
Every movement of value, in order. The pool replays this on demand and refuses to run if it does not reconcile.

Onchain
Each policy is a predicate the chain holds open. Validators attest the outside world, the chain re-evaluates only the policies whose inputs moved, and the ones that hold are paid without anyone filing anything.
Waiting on their index
What the chain is holding open right now. An amber policy is reading a source that has stopped publishing, and will be expired with its premium returned rather than left armed forever.
Blocks
Height is transactions in the block; the lit part is settlement the protocol did by itself.
Demonstrate an event
Waiting for a real catastrophe is the honest way to watch this and a poor way to show it. This attests a reading the way the world would, and everything downstream runs untouched: the chain evaluates, the pool checks it can pay, the structure decides the amount.
Settled
Policies
The whole book, including everything that has already settled.
